Day 110, Winterton - Ladysmith

An early rise, cereal and exit for the 30 kilometre south-west drive to the Drakensburg Range. We set off on our hike up the cloud covered mountains at 9.30 am. It was a reasonable climb almost 700 metres up (2,100 metres total) to mighty jagged peaks that lead north to the high veldt. Our descent was spectacularly scenic and included a dip in a waterfall over a tin of beans. After almost five hours walking we had a brief drive to Ladysmith and a quick visit to a museum commemorating the Boer War of 1899-1902. Struggled to get cheap accommodation so splashed out 100R each. In flash B&B without B! A very uneventful birthday - as expected.
